AS	Should a wise man make answer with vain knowledge, And fill himself with the east wind?

KG	Vetekedvén oly beszéddel, amely nem használ, és oly szavakkal, amelyekkel semmit sem segít.
AS	Should he reason with unprofitable talk, Or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?

KG	Te már semmivé akarod tenni az Isten félelmét is; és megkevesbíted az Isten előtt való buzgólkodást is!
AS	Yea, thou doest away with fear, And hinderest devotion before God.
KJV	Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.

KG	Mert gonoszságod oktatja a te szádat, és a csalárdok nyelvét választottad.
AS	For thine iniquity teacheth thy mouth, And thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
KJV	For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.

KG	A te szád kárhoztat téged, nem én, és a te ajakaid bizonyítanak ellened.
AS	Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I; Yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

KG	Te születtél-é az első embernek; elébb formáltattál-é, mint a halmok?
AS	Art thou the first man that was born? Or wast thou brought forth before the hills?

KG	Az Isten tanácsában hallgatóztál-é, és a bölcseséget magadhoz ragadtad-é?
AS	Hast thou heard the secret counsel of God? And dost thou limit wisdom to thyself?
KJV	Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?

KG	Mit tudsz te, amit mi nem tudunk, és mit értesz olyat, ami nálunk nem volna meg?
AS	What knowest thou, that we know not? What understandest thou, which is not in us?

KG	Ősz is, agg is van közöttünk, jóval idősebb a te atyádnál.
AS	With us are both the gray-headed and the very aged men, Much elder than thy father.
KJV	With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

KG	Csekélységek-é előtted Istennek vigasztalásai, és a beszéd, amely szeliden bánt veled?
AS	Are the consolations of God too small for thee, Even the word that is gentle toward thee?
KJV	Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?

KG	Merre ragadt téged a szíved, és merre pillantottak a te szemeid?
AS	Why doth thy heart carry thee away? And why do thine eyes flash,

KG	Hogy Isten ellen fordítod a te haragodat, és ilyen szavakat eresztesz ki a szádon?
AS	That against God thou turnest thy spirit, And lettest words go out of thy mouth?

KG	Micsoda a halandó, hogy tiszta lehetne, és hogy igaz volna, aki asszonytól születik?
AS	What is man, that he should be clean? And he that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
KJV	What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

KG	Ímé, még az ő szenteiben sem bízok, az egek sem tiszták az ő szemében:
AS	Behold, he putteth no trust in his holy ones; Yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight:
KJV	Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

KG	Mennyivel kevésbbé az útálatos és a megromlott ember, aki úgy nyeli a hamisságot, mint a vizet?!
AS	How much less one that is abominable and corrupt, A man that drinketh iniquity like water!
KJV	How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

KG	Elmondom néked, hallgass rám, és amint láttam, úgy beszélem el;
AS	I will show thee, hear thou me; And that which I have seen I will declare:

KG	Amit a bölcsek is hirdettek, és nem titkoltak el, mint atyáiktól valót;
AS	(Which wise men have told From their fathers, and have not hid it;

KG	Akiknek egyedül adatott vala a föld, és közöttük idegen nem megy vala.
AS	Unto whom alone the land was given, And no stranger passed among them):

KG	Az istentelen kínozza önmagát egész életében, és az erőszakoskodó előtt is rejtve van az ő esztendeinek száma.
AS	The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, Even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.

KG	A félelem hangja cseng az ő füleiben; a békesség idején tör rá a pusztító!
AS	A sound of terrors is in his ears; In prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.

KG	Nem hiszi, hogy kijut a sötétségből, mert kard hegyére van ő kiszemelve.
AS	He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, And he is waited for of the sword.

KG	Kenyér után futkos, hogy hol volna? Tudja, hogy közel van hozzá a sötétség napja.
AS	He wandereth abroad for bread, `saying', Where is it? He knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

KG	Háborgatják őt a nyomorúság és rettegés; leverik őt, mint valami háborúra felkészült király.
AS	Distress and anguish make him afraid; They prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

KG	Mert az Isten ellen nyujtotta ki kezét, és erősködött a Mindenható ellen;
AS	Because he hath stretched out his hand against God, And behaveth himself proudly against the Almighty;

KG	Kinyujtott nyakkal rohant ellene, domború pajzsainak fellege alatt.
AS	He runneth upon him with a `stiff' neck, With the thick bosses of his bucklers;

KG	Mivel befedezte az arcát kövérséggel, és hájat borított tomporára;
AS	Because he hath covered his face with his fatness, And gathered fat upon his loins;

KG	És lakozott elrombolt városokban; lakatlan házakban, amelyek dűlőfélben vannak:
AS	And he hath dwelt in desolate cities, In houses which no man inhabited, Which were ready to become heaps;

KG	Meg nem gazdagodik, vagyona meg nem marad, jószága nem lepi el a földet.
AS	He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, Neither shall their possessions be extended on the earth.

AS	For the company of the godless shall be barren, And fire shall consume the tents of bribery.

KG	Nyomorúságot fogan, álnokságot szül, és az ő méhök csalárdságot érlel.
AS	They conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity, And their heart prepareth deceit.
