AS	Be not many `of you' teachers, my brethren, knowing that we shall receive heavier judgment.
KJV	My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

KG	Mert mindnyájan sokképpen vétkezünk. Ha valaki beszédben nem vétkezik, az tökéletes ember, képes az egész testét is megzabolázni.
AS	For in many things we all stumble. If any stumbleth not in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also.
KJV	For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

KG	Ímé a lovaknak szájába zabolát vetünk, hogy engedelmeskedjenek nékünk, és az ő egész testöket igazgatjuk.
AS	Now if we put the horses' bridles into their mouths that they may obey us, we turn about their whole body also.
KJV	Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

KG	Ímé a hajók is, noha mily nagyok, és erős szelektől hajtatnak, mindazáltal igen kis kormánytól oda fordíttatnak, ahová a kormányos szándéka akarja.
AS	Behold, the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, are yet turned about by a very small rudder, whither the impulse of the steersman willeth.
KJV	Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

KG	Ezenképpen a nyelv is kicsiny tag és nagy dolgokkal hányja magát. Ímé csekély tűz mily nagy erdőt felgyújt!
AS	So the tongue also is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how much wood is kindled by how small a fire!
KJV	Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

KG	A nyelv is tűz, a gonoszságnak összessége. Úgy van a nyelv a mi tagjaink között, hogy megszeplősíti az egész testet, és lángba borítja életünk folyását, maga is lángba boríttatván a gyehennától.
AS	And the tongue is a fire: the world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the wheel of nature, and is set on fire by hell.
KJV	And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

KG	Mert minden természet, vadállatoké, madaraké, csúszómászóké és vízieké megszelídíthető és meg is szelidíttetett az emberi természet által:
AS	For every kind of beasts and birds, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind.

KG	De a nyelvet az emberek közül senki sem szelidítheti meg; fékezhetetlen gonosz az, halálos méreggel teljes.
AS	But the tongue can no man tame; `it is' a restless evil, `it is' full of deadly poison.
KJV	But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

KG	Ezzel áldjuk az Istent és Atyát, és ezzel átkozzuk az embereket, akik az Isten hasonlatosságára teremttettek:
AS	Therewith bless we the Lord and Father; and therewith curse we men, who are made after the likeness of God:
KJV	Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

KG	Ugyanabból a szájból jő ki áldás és átok. Atyámfiai, nem kellene ezeknek így lenni!
AS	out of the same mouth cometh forth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

KG	Vajjon a forrás ugyanabból a nyílásból csörgedeztet-é édest és keserűt?
AS	Doth the fountain send forth from the same opening sweet `water' and bitter?
KJV	Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

KG	Avagy atyámfiai, teremhet-é a fügefa olajmagvakat, vagy a szőlőtő fügét? Azonképpen egy forrás sem adhat sós és édes vizet.
AS	Can a fig tree, my brethren, yield olives, or a vine figs? Neither `can' salt water yield sweet.
KJV	Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

KG	Kicsoda köztetek bölcs és okos? Mutassa meg az ő jó életéből az ő cselekedeteit bölcsességnek szelídségével.
AS	Who is wise and understanding among you? let him show by his good life his works in meekness of wisdom.
KJV	Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

KG	Ha pedig keserű irígység és civódás van a ti szívetekben, ne dicsekedjetek és ne hazudjatok az igazság ellen.
AS	But if ye have bitter jealousy and faction in your heart, glory not and lie not against the truth.
KJV	But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

KG	Ez nem az a bölcsesség, amely felülről jő, hanem földi, testi és ördögi.
AS	This wisdom is not `a wisdom' that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
KJV	This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

KG	Mert ahol irígység és civakodás van, ott háborúság és minden gonosz cselekedet is van.
AS	For where jealousy and faction are, there is confusion and every vile deed.
KJV	For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

KG	A felülről való bölcsesség pedig először is tiszta, azután békeszerető, méltányos, engedelmes, irgalmassággal és jó gyümölcsökkel teljes, nem kételkedő és nem képmutató.
AS	But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without variance, without hypocrisy.
KJV	But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

KG	Az igazság gyümölcse pedig békességben vettetik azoknak, akik békességen munkálkodnak.
AS	And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for them that make peace.
KJV	And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
