KJV	My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

KG	Szádnak beszédei által estél tőrbe, megfogattattál a te szádnak beszédivel.
KJV	Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

KG	Ezt míveld azért fiam, és mentsd ki magadat, mert a te felebarátodnak kezébe jutottál; eredj, alázd meg magadat, és kényszerítsd felebarátodat.
KJV	Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

KG	Még álmot se engedj szemeidnek, se szunnyadást szemöldökidnek,
KJV	Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.

KG	Szabadítsd ki magadat, mint a zerge a vadász kezéből, és mint a madár a madarásznak kezéből.
KJV	Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

KG	Eredj a hangyához, te rest, nézd meg az ő útait, és légy bölcs!
KJV	Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

KG	Akinek nincs vezére, igazgatója, vagy ura,
KJV	Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

KG	Nyárban szerzi meg az ő kenyerét, aratáskor gyűjti eledelét.
KJV	Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

KG	Oh te rest, meddig fekszel? mikor kelsz fel a te álmodból?
KJV	How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

KG	Még egy kis álom, még egy kis szunnyadás, még egy kis kéz-összefonás, hogy pihenjek;
KJV	Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

KG	Így jő el, mint az útonjáró, a te szegénységed, és a te szűkölködésed, mint a paizsos férfiú!
KJV	So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

KG	Haszontalan ember, hamis férfiú, aki álnok szájjal jár,
KJV	A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

KG	Aki hunyorgat szemeivel; lábaival is szól, és ujjaival jelt ád.
KJV	He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;

KG	Álnokság van az ő szívében, gonoszt forral minden időben, háborúságot indít.
KJV	Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

KG	Annakokáért hirtelen eljő az ő nyomorúsága, gyorsan megrontatik, s nem lesz gyógyulása.
KJV	Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

KG	E hat dolgot gyűlöli az Úr, és hét dolog útálat az ő lelkének:
KJV	These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

KG	A kevély szemek, a hazug nyelv, és az ártatlan vért ontó kezek,
KJV	A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

KG	Az álnok gondolatokat forraló elme, a gonoszra sietséggel futó lábak,
KJV	An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

KG	A hazugságlehelő hamis tanú, és aki szerez háborúságokat az atyafiak között!
KJV	A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

KG	Őrizd meg, fiam, atyád parancsolatját, és anyád tanítását el ne hagyd.
KJV	My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

KG	Kösd azokat szívedre mindenkor, fűzd a nyakadba.
KJV	Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

KG	Valahová mégysz, vezérel téged, mikor aluszol, őriz téged, mikor felserkensz, beszélget te veled.
KJV	When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

KG	Mert szövétnek a parancsolat, és a tudomány világosság, és életnek úta a tanító-feddések.
KJV	For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

KG	Hogy a gonosz asszonytól téged megőrizzenek, az idegen asszony nyelvének hizelkedésétől.
KJV	To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.

KG	Ne kivánd az ő szépségét szivedben, és meg ne fogjon téged szemöldökeivel;
KJV	Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

KG	Mert a parázna asszony miatt jut az ember egy darab kenyérre, és más férfi felesége drága életet vadász!
KJV	For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.

KG	Vehet-é valaki tüzet az ő kebelébe, hogy ruhái meg ne égnének?
KJV	Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

KG	Vagy járhat-é valaki elevenszénen, hogy lábai meg ne égnének?
KJV	Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

KG	Így van, valaki bemegy felebarátjának feleségéhez, nem marad büntetlen, valaki illeti azt!
KJV	So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.

KG	Nem útálják meg a lopót, ha lop az ő kivánságának betöltésére, mikor éhezik;
KJV	Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;

KG	És ha rajta kapatik, hétannyit kell adnia, az ő házának minden marháját érette adhatja;
KJV	But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

KG	Aki pedig asszonynyal paráználkodik, bolond; aki magát el akarja veszteni, az cselekszi ezt!
KJV	But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

KG	Vereséget és gyalázatot nyer, és az ő gyalázatja el nem töröltetik.
KJV	A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

KG	Mert a féltékenység a férfiú haragja, és nem cselekszik kegyelmességgel a bosszúállásnak napján.
KJV	For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

KG	Nem gondol semmi váltsággal, nem nyugszik meg rajta, még ha nagy sok ajándékot adsz is néki.
KJV	He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
