KG	Felele a Naamából való Cófár, és monda:
KJV	Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

KG	A sok beszédre ne legyen-é felelet? Avagy a csácsogó embernek legyen-é igaza?
KJV	Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?

KG	Fecsegéseid elnémítják az embereket, és csúfolódol is és ne legyen, aki megszégyenítsen?!
KJV	Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?

KG	Azt mondod: Értelmes az én beszédem, tiszta vagyok a te szemeid előtt.
KJV	For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.

KG	De vajha szólalna meg maga az Isten, és nyitná meg ajkait te ellened!
KJV	But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;

KG	És jelentené meg néked a bölcsességnek titkait, hogy kétszerte többet ér az az okoskodásnál, és tudnád meg, hogy az Isten még el is engedett néked a te bűneidből.
KJV	And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.

KG	Az Isten mélységét elérheted-é, avagy a Mindenhatónak tökéletességére eljuthatsz-é?
KJV	Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?

KG	Magasabb az égnél: mit teszel tehát? Mélyebb az alvilágnál; hogy ismerheted meg?
KJV	It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?

KG	Hosszabb annak mértéke a földnél, és szélesebb a tengernél.
KJV	The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.

KG	Ha megtapos, elzár és ítéletet tart: ki akadályozhatja meg?
KJV	If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?

KG	Mert ő jól ismeri a csalárd embereket, látja az álnokságot, még ha nem figyelmez is arra!
KJV	For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?

KG	És értelmessé teheti a bolond embert is, és emberré szülheti a vadszamár csikóját is.
KJV	For vain men would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.

KG	Ha te a te szívedet felkészítenéd, és kezedet felé terjesztenéd;
KJV	If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;

KG	Ha a hamisságot, amely a te kezedben van, távol tartanád magadtól, és nem lakoznék a te hajlékodban gonoszság;
KJV	If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.

KG	Akkor a te arcodat fölemelhetnéd szégyen nélkül, erős lennél és nem félnél;
KJV	For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:

KG	Sőt a nyomorúságról is elfelejtkeznél, és mint lefutott vizekről, úgy emlékeznél arról.
KJV	Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:

KG	Ragyogóbban kelne időd a déli fénynél, és az éjféli sötétség is olyan lenne, mint a kora reggel.
KJV	And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday: thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.

KG	Akkor bíznál, mert volna reménységed; és ha széttekintenél, biztonságban aludnál.
KJV	And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.

KG	Ha lefeküdnél, senki föl nem rettentene, sőt sokan hizelegnének néked.
KJV	Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.

KG	De a gonoszok szemei elepednek, menedékök eltünik előlök, és reménységök: a lélek kilehellése!
KJV	But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.
