AS	And there was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines, unto Gerar.

KG	Tartózkodjál ezen a földön, és én veled leszek és megáldalak téged; mert tenéked és a te magodnak adom mind ezeket a földeket, hogy megerősítsem az esküvést, melylyel megesküdtem Ábrahámnak a te atyádnak.
AS	Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee. For unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father.

KG	És megsokasítom a te magodat mint az ég csillagait, és a te magodnak adom mind ezeket a földeket: és megáldatnak a te magodban a földnek minden nemzetségei;
AS	And I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these lands. And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.

KG	Mivelhogy hallgata Ábrahám az én szavamra: és megtartotta a megtartandókat, parancsolataimat, rendeléseimet és törvényeimet.
AS	Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

AS	And the men of the place asked him of his wife. And he said, She is my sister. For he feared to say, My wife. Lest, `said he', the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah. Because she was fair to look upon.

KG	És lőn idő multával, hogy Abimélek a Filiszteusok királya kitekintvén az ablakon, látá Izsákot enyelegni Rebekával az ő feleségével.
AS	And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

KG	Kiálta azért Abimélek Izsáknak, és monda: Ímé bizony feleséged ő; hogyan mondhattad tehát: húgom ő!? És monda neki Izsák: Mert azt gondolám, netalán még meg kell halnom miatta.
AS	And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife. And how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die because of her.

KG	És monda Abimélek: Miért mívelted ezt mi velünk? Kevésbe múlt, hogy feleségeddel nem hált valaki a nép közül, és bűnt hoztál volna mi reánk.
AS	And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? One of the people might easily have lain with thy wife, and thou wouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

KG	Parancsola azért Abimélek mind az egész népnek, ezt mondván: Aki ezt az embert vagy ennek feleségét illeténdi, bizonynyal meg kell halnia.
AS	And Abimelech charged all the people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

KG	És vete Izsák azon a földön, és lett néki abban az esztendőben száz annyia, mert megáldá őt az Úr.
AS	And Isaac sowed in that land, and found in the same year a hundredfold. And Jehovah blessed him.

KG	És gyarapodék az a férfiú, és elébb-elébb megy vala a gyarapodásban, mígnem igen nagygyá lőn.
AS	And the man waxed great, and grew more and more until he became very great.

KG	És vala néki apró és öreg barma és sok cselédje, s irigykedének ezért reá a Filiszteusok.

KG	És mindazokat a kútakat, melyeket az ő atyjának szolgái Ábrahámnak az ő atyjának idejében ástak vala, behányák a Filiszteusok, és betölték azokat földdel.
AS	Now all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped, and filled with earth.

KG	Elméne azért onnan Izsák, és Gérár völgyében voná fel sátrait, és ott lakék.

KG	És ismét megásá Izsák a kútakat, amelyeket ástak vala az ő atyjának Ábrahámnak idejében, de amelyeket Ábrahám holta után behánytak vala a Filiszteusok, és azokkal a nevekkel nevezé azokat, amely neveket adott vala azoknak az ő atyja.
AS	And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father. For the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham. And he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

AS	And the herdsmen of Gerar strove with Isaac's herdsmen, saying, The water is ours. And he called the name of the well Esek, because they contended with him.

KG	Más kútat is ásának s azon is versengének, azért annak nevét Szitnának nevezé.

KG	És tovább vonula onnan és ása más kútat, amely miatt nem versengének; azért nevezé nevét Rehobóthnak, és monda: Immár tágas helyet szerzett az Úr minékünk, és szaporodhatunk a földön.
AS	And he removed from thence, and digged another well. And for that they strove not. And he called the name of it Rehoboth. And he said, For now Jehovah hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

KG	Felméne pedig onnan Beérsebába.

KG	És megjelenék néki az Úr azon éjszaka, és monda: Én vagyok Ábrahámnak a te atyádnak Istene: Ne félj, mert te veled vagyok, és megáldalak téged, és megsokasítom a te magodat Ábrahámért, az én szolgámért.
AS	And Jehovah appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father. Fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.

KG	Oltárt építe azért ott, és segítségűl hívá az Úrnak nevét, s felvoná ott az ő sátorát; Izsák szolgái pedig kútat ásának ottan.
AS	And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of Jehovah, and pitched his tent there. And there Isaac's servants digged a well.

KG	Abimélek pedig elméne ő hozzá Gérárból és Akhuzzáth az ő barátja, meg Pikhól az ő hadvezére.
AS	Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath his friend, and Phicol the captain of his host.

KG	És monda nékik Izsák: Miért jöttetek én hozzám, holott gyűlöltök engem s elűztetek magatok közül?
AS	And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore are ye come unto me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?

KG	Ők pedig mondák: Látván láttuk, hogy az Úr van te veled, és mondánk: legyen esküvés mi közöttünk, köztünk és te közötted; és kössünk frigyet teveled,
AS	And they said, We saw plainly that Jehovah was with thee. And we said, Let there now be an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee,

KG	Hogy minket gonosszal nem illetsz, valamint mi sem bántottunk téged, és amint csak jót cselekedtünk veled, és békességgel bocsátottunk el magunktól. Te már az Úr áldott embere vagy.
AS	that thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace. Thou art now the blessed of Jehovah.
