KG	És lőn, mikor elvégezé Jézus a tizenkét tanítványának adott utasítást, elméne onnan, hogy tanítson és prédikáljon azoknak városaiban.

KG	És felelvén Jézus, monda nékik: Menjetek el és jelentsétek Jánosnak, amiket hallotok és láttok:

KG	A vakok látnak, és a sánták járnak; a poklosok megtisztulnak és a siketek hallanak; a halottak föltámadnak, és a szegényeknek evangyéliom hirdettetik;
AS	the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good tidings preached to them.

KG	És boldog, aki én bennem meg nem botránkozik.

KG	Mikor pedig azok elmentek vala, szólni kezde Jézus a sokaságnak Jánosról: Mit látni mentetek ki a pusztába? Nádszálat-é, amit a szél hajtogat?
AS	And as these went their way, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken with the wind?

KG	Hát mit látni mentetek ki? Puha ruhába öltözött embert-é? Ímé akik puha ruhákat viselnek, a királyok palotáiban vannak.
AS	But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in soft `raiment'? Behold, they that wear soft `raiment' are in king's houses.

KG	Hát mit látni mentetek ki? Prófétát-é? Bizony, mondom néktek, prófétánál is nagyobbat!
AS	But wherefore went ye out? to see a prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.

KG	Mert ő az, akiről meg van írva: Ímé én elküldöm az én követemet a te orcád előtt, aki megkészíti előtted a te útadat.
AS	This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Who shall prepare thy way before thee.

KG	Bizony mondom néktek: az asszonyoktól szülöttek között nem támadott nagyobb Keresztelő Jánosnál; de aki legkisebb a mennyeknek országában, nagyobb nálánál.
AS	Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not arisen a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is but little in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

KG	A Keresztelő János idejétől fogva pedig mind mostanig erőszakoskodnak a mennyek országáért, és az erőszakoskodók ragadják el azt.
AS	And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and men of violence take it by force.

KG	De kihez hasonlítsam ezt a nemzetséget? Hasonlatos a gyermekekhez, akik a piacon ülnek, és kiáltoznak az ő társaiknak,
AS	But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the marketplaces, who call unto their fellows

KG	Ekkor elkezdé szemökre hányni ama városoknak, amelyekben legtöbb csodái lőnek, hogy nem tértek vala meg:

AS	Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

AS	But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.

KG	Te is Kapernaum, aki az égig felmagasztaltattál, a pokolig fogsz megaláztatni; mert ha Sodomában történnek vala azok a csodák, amelyek te benned lőnek, mind e mai napig megmaradt volna.
AS	And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt go down unto Hades: for if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in thee, it would have remained until this day.

KG	De mondom néktek, hogy Sodoma földének könnyebb dolga lesz az ítélet napján, hogynem néked.
AS	But I say unto you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

KG	Abban az időben szólván Jézus, monda: Hálákat adok néked, Atyám, mennynek és földnek Ura, hogy elrejtetted ezeket a bölcsek és az értelmesek elől, és a kisdedeknek megjelentetted.
AS	At that season Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes:

KG	Igen, Atyám, mert így volt kedves te előtted.

AS	All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth the Son, save the Father; neither doth any know the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal `him.'

KG	Jőjjetek én hozzám mindnyájan, akik megfáradtatok és megterheltettetek, és én megnyugosztlak titeket.
AS	Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
