KG	És Jojákimnak, a Jósiás fiának, Júda királyának negyedik esztendejében is szóla az Úr Jeremiásnak, mondván:

KG	Végy elő egy könyvet, és mind írd belé a szókat, amiket én szóltam néked az Izráel és a Júda ellen és minden nemzet ellen, a naptól fogva, amelyen szóltam néked a Jósiás ideje óta mind e napig.
AS	Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.

KG	Hátha meghallja a Júda háza mindazokat a veszedelmeket, amelyeket én néki szerezni szándékozom, hogy kiki megtérjen az ő gonosz útáról, és megbocsássam az ő bűnöket és vétköket.
AS	It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

KG	És előhívá Jeremiás Bárukot, a Néria fiát, és megírá Báruk a Jeremiás szája után a könyvbe mindama szókat, amelyeket az Úr szólott vala néki.
AS	Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Jehovah, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.

AS	And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of Jehovah:

KG	Azért te menj be, és a könyvből, amelyet az én számból írtál, olvasd el az Úrnak szavait a népnek hallatára az Úrnak házában bőjti napon, és az egész Júdának hallatára, akik felgyülnek az ő városaikból, olvasd el nékik.
AS	therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of Jehovah in the ears of the people in Jehovah's house upon the fast-day; and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.

KG	Hátha az Úr elé száll könyörgésük, és mindenki megtér az ő gonosz útáról, mert nagy az Úr haragja és felháborodása, amelylyel szólott az Úr e nép ellen!
AS	It may be they will present their supplication before Jehovah, and will return every one from his evil way; for great is the anger and the wrath that Jehovah hath pronounced against this people.

KG	Báruk pedig, a Néria fia, mind aszerint cselekedék, amint néki Jeremiás próféta megparancsolta vala, elolvasván a könyvből az Úrnak szavát, az Úrnak házában.
AS	And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of Jehovah in Jehovah's house.

KG	És Jojákimnak a Jósiás fiának, Júda királyának ötödik esztendejében, a kilencedik hónapban bőjtre hívták fel az Úr elé az egész Jeruzsálem népét és az egész népet, amely Júda városaiból jött vala fel Jeruzsálembe.
AS	Now it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before Jehovah.

KG	És elolvasá Báruk a könyvből Jeremiás beszédeit az Úr házában Gamáriának, az írástudó Sáfán fiának szobájában a felső pitvarban, az Úr háza új kapujának nyílásában az egész nép hallatára.
AS	Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan, the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of Jehovah's house, in the ears of all the people.

AS	he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber: and, lo, all the princes were sitting there, `to wit', Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.

AS	Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thy hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.

KG	És mikor meghallák mind e szókat, megrettenve tekintettek egymásra, és mondának Báruknak: Bizony megjelentjük mind e szókat a királynak.
AS	Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.

KG	Bárukot pedig kérdezék, mondván: Jelentsd meg csak nékünk, mimódon írtad mind e szókat az ő szájából?
AS	And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?

KG	És elmenének a királyhoz a pitvarba (és letevék a könyvet az írástudó Elisámának szobájában) és elmondák mind e szókat a király hallatára.
AS	And they went in to the king into the court; but they had laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe; and they told all the words in the ears of the king.

KG	És elküldé a király Jéhudit, hogy hozza el a könyvet; azért elhozá azt az írástudó Elisámának szobájából, és elolvasá azt Jéhudi a király hallatára és mindama főemberek hallatára, akik a király előtt állnak vala.
AS	So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll; and he took it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes that stood beside the king.

KG	A király pedig a téli házban ül vala a kilencedik hónapban, és a tűz ég vala előtte.
AS	Now the king was sitting in the winter-house in the ninth month: and `there was a fire in' the brazier burning before him.

KG	És mikor Jéhudi három vagy négy levelet elolvasott vala, elmetélé azt az írástudónak késével, és a tűzbe hajítá, amely a tűzhelyen vala, mígnem az egész könyv megége a tűzben, amely a tűzhelyen vala.
AS	And it came to pass, when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, that `the king' cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.

KG	Nem rettentek meg, sem ruhájokat nem szaggatták meg a király és valamennyi szolgája, akik hallják vala mind e szókat.
AS	And they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.

AS	And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah thou shalt say, Thus saith Jehovah: Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
