KG	Jákób tovább méne az ő útján, és szembe jövének vele az Isten Angyalai.
KJV	And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

KG	És monda Jákób mikor azokat látja vala: Isten tábora ez; és nevezé annak a helynek nevét Mahanáimnak.
KJV	And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.

KG	Azután külde Jákób követeket maga előtt Ézsaúhoz az ő bátyjához, Széir földébe, Edóm mezőségébe,
KJV	And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.

KG	És parancsola azoknak mondván: Így szóljatok az én uramnak Ézsaúnak: Ezt mondja a te szolgád Jákób: Lábánnál tartózkodtam és időztem mind ekkorig.
KJV	And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:

KG	Vannak pedig nékem ökreim és szamaraim, juhaim, szolgáim és szolgálóim, azért híradásul követséget küldök az én uramhoz, hogy kedvet találjak szemeid előtt.
KJV	And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.

KG	És megtérének Jákóbhoz a követek, mondván: Elmentünk vala a te atyádfiához Ézsaúhoz, és már jön is elődbe, és négyszáz férfi van vele.
KJV	And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.

KG	Igen megíjede Jákób és féltében a népet, mely vele vala, a juhokat, a barmokat és a tevéket két seregre osztá.
KJV	Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;

KG	És monda: Ha eljön Ézsaú az egyik seregre, és azt levágja, a hátramaradt sereg megszabadul.
KJV	And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.

KG	És monda Jákób: Óh én atyámnak Ábrahámnak Istene, és én atyámnak Izsáknak Istene, Jehova! ki azt mondád nékem: Térj vissza hazádba, a te rokonságod közé, s jól tészek veled:
KJV	And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:

KG	Kisebb vagyok minden te jótéteményednél és minden te hűségednél, amelyeket a te szolgáddal cselekedtél; mert csak pálcámmal mentem vala által ezen a Jordánon, most pedig két sereggé lettem.
KJV	I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast showed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.

KG	Szabadíts meg, kérlek, engem az én bátyám kezéből, Ézsaú kezéből; mert félek ő tőle, hogy rajtam üt és levág engem, az anyát a fiakkal egybe.
KJV	Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

KG	Te pedig azt mondottad: Jól tévén jól tészek te veled, és a te magodat olyanná tészem mint a tenger fövénye, mely meg nem számláltathatik sokasága miatt.
KJV	And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

KG	És ott hála azon éjjel: és választa abból, ami kezénél vala, ajándékot Ézsaúnak az ő bátyjának:
KJV	And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother;

KG	Kétszáz kecskét, és húsz bakot; kétszáz juhot, és húsz kost;
KJV	Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams,

KG	Harminc szoptatós tevét s azok fiait; negyven tehenet, és tíz tulkot: húsz nőstény szamarat, és tíz szamár vemhet.
KJV	Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.

KG	És szolgái kezébe adá, minden nyájat külön-külön, és monda az ő szolgáinak: Menjetek el én előttem, és közt hagyjatok nyáj és nyáj között.
KJV	And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.

KG	És parancsola az elsőnek, mondván: Ha az én bátyám Ézsaú előtalál és megkérdez téged, mondván: Ki embere vagy? Hová mégy? És kiéi ezek előtted?
KJV	And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?

KG	Akkor azt mondjad: Szolgádé Jákóbé; ajándék az, amelyet küld az én uramnak Ézsaúnak, és ímé ő maga is jön utánunk.
KJV	Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob's; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.

KG	Ugyanazt parancsolá a másiknak, a harmadiknak, és mindazoknak, kik a nyájak után mennek vala, mondván: Ilyen szóval szóljatok Ézsaúnak, mikor vele találkoztok.
KJV	And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.

KG	Ezt is mondjátok: Ímé Jákób a te szolgád utánunk jő; mert így gondolkodik vala: Megengesztelem őt az ajándékkal, mely előttem megy, és azután leszek szembe vele, talán kedves lesz személyem előtte.
KJV	And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.

KG	Előlméne tehát az ajándék; ő pedig azon éjjel a seregnél hála.
KJV	So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.

KG	Felkele pedig ő azon éjszaka és vevé két feleségét, két szolgálóját és tizenegy gyermekét, és általméne a Jabbók révén.
KJV	And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.

KG	Vevé hát azokat és átköltözteté a vízen, azután átköltözteté mindenét valamije vala.
KJV	And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.

KG	Jákób pedig egyedűl marada és tusakodik vala ő vele egy férfiú, egész a hajnal feljöveteléig.
KJV	And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

KG	Aki mikor látá, hogy nem vehet rajta erőt, megilleté csípőjének forgócsontját, és kiméne helyéből Jákób csípőjének forgócsontja a vele való tusakodás közben.
KJV	And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

KG	És monda: Bocsáss el engem, mert feljött a hajnal. És monda Jákób: Nem bocsátlak el téged, míg meg nem áldasz engemet.
KJV	And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

KG	És monda néki: Mi a te neved? És ő monda: Jákób.
KJV	And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

KG	Amaz pedig monda: Nem Jákóbnak mondatik ezután a te neved, hanem Izráelnek; mert küzdöttél Istennel és emberekkel, és győztél.
KJV	And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

KG	És megkérdé Jákób, és monda: Mondd meg, kérlek, a te nevedet. Az pedig monda: Ugyan miért kérded az én nevemet? És megáldá őt ott.
KJV	And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

KG	Nevezé azért Jákób annak a helynek nevét Peniélnek: mert látám az Istent színről színre, és megszabadult az én lelkem.
KJV	And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

KG	És a nap felkél vala rajta, amint elméne Peniél mellett, ő pedig sántít vala csípőjére.
KJV	And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

KG	Azért nem eszik Izráel fiai a csípő forgócsontjának inahúsát mind e mai napig, mivelhogy illetve vala Jákób csípője forgócsontjának inahúsa.
KJV	Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.
