KG	És mikor imádkozék Ezsdrás és vallást tőn, sírva és földre borulva az Isten háza előtt, sereglének ő hozzá Izráelből igen nagy gyülekezetben férfiak és asszonyok és gyermekek, mert síra a nép is sokat és keservesen.
KJV	Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.

KG	És szóla Sekhánia, Jéhielnek fia, az Élám fiai közül, és monda Ezsdrásnak: Mi vétkeztünk a mi Istenünk ellen, hogy idegen feleségeket vettünk magunknak e föld népei közül: mindazáltal van reménysége Izráelnek, mind e mellett is!
KJV	And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.

KG	Vessünk ugyanis frigyet a mi Istenünkkel, hogy elbocsátjuk mindazon asszonyokat és a tőlük szülötteket az én Uramnak és azoknak akaratja szerint, akik reszketve gondolnak a mi Istenünk parancsolatára, és a törvény szerint cselekedjünk!
KJV	Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

KG	Kelj fel! mert reád néz e dolog, s mi veled leszünk: légy erős és láss hozzá!
KJV	Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.

KG	Fölkele annakokáért Ezsdrás, és megesketé a papoknak, a Lévitáknak és az egész Izráelnek fejedelmeit, hogy e beszéd szerint fognak cselekedni; és megesküvének.
KJV	Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.

KG	És fölkele Ezsdrás az Isten háza elől, és elméne Jóhanánnak, Eliásib fiának szobájához s bemenvén abba, kenyeret nem evék, sem vizet nem ivék, mert gyászol vala a rabságból hazajöttek vétke miatt.
KJV	Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.

KG	És meghirdeték Júdában és Jeruzsálemben mindazoknak, akik a rabságból hazajöttek, hogy Jeruzsálembe gyűljenek;
KJV	And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;

KG	Valaki pedig el nem jön harmadnapra, a fejedelmek és vének tanácsa szerint, adassék minden vagyona a templomnak, és ő maga vettessék ki a rabságból hazajötteknek gyülekezetéből.
KJV	And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.

KG	Összegyűlének azért Júdának és Benjáminnak minden férfiai harmadnapra Jeruzsálembe a kilencedik hóban, e hó huszadik napján, és leüle az egész nép az Isten házának piacán, aggódván e dolog és az esőzések miatt.
KJV	Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.

KG	Ekkor fölkele Ezsdrás, a pap, és monda nékik: Ti vétkeztetek, hogy idegen feleségeket vettetek magatoknak, hogy ezzel is többítenétek Izráel vétkét;
KJV	And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.

KG	Annakokáért tegyetek vallást az Úr előtt, atyáitoknak Istene előtt, és cselekedjetek az ő akaratja szerint, elkülönítvén magatokat e föld népeitől és az idegen feleségektől.
KJV	Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.

KG	És felele az egész gyülekezet, és monda felszóval: Ekképpen, a te beszéded szerint kell minékünk cselekednünk!
KJV	Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.

KG	De e nép igen sok és az esős idő miatt kivül nem állhatunk; annak felette ez nem egy, sem nem két napi munka, mert sokan vagyunk, akik vétkeztünk e dologban;
KJV	But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.

KG	Hadd álljanak hát elő fejedelmeink, az egész gyülekezeté, és mindenki, aki idegen feleséget vett magának, városonként jőjjön elő bizonyos időben s velök a városoknak vénei és birái, hogy elfordítsuk magunkról a mi Istenünknek e dolog miatt való búsulásának haragját!
KJV	Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.

KG	Csak Jónathán, az Asáhel fia és Jahzéja, a Tikva fia állának fel ez ellen és Mésullám és Sabbethai, a Léviták támogaták őket.
KJV	Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.

KG	És cselekedének ekképpen azok, akik a rabságból hazajöttek; és választa magának Ezsdrás, a pap férfiakat, a családfőket, családjuk szerint, s mindnyájok nevei feljegyeztettek. És összeülének a tizedik hó első napján, hogy nyomozzák e dolgot;
KJV	And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

KG	És bevégezék azt mindazon férfiakra nézve, akik idegen feleséget vettek vala magoknak, az első hónak első napjáig.
KJV	And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.

KG	Találtatának pedig a papok fiai közül, akik idegen feleségeket vettek vala magoknak, Jésuának, a Jósádák fiának és az ő testvéreinek fiai közül: Maaséja, Eliézer, Járib és Gedálja;
KJV	And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.

KG	És kezöket adák, hogy elbocsátják feleségeiket és egy kos áldozására ítéltetének vétkükért;
KJV	And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.

KG	Immér fiai közül pedig: Hanáni és Zebádja.
KJV	And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.

KG	Hárim fiai közül: Maaszéja, Elija, Semája, Jéhiel és Uzzia,
KJV	And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.

KG	Pashur fiai közül: Eljoénaj, Maaszéja, Ismáel, Nethanéel, Józabád és Elásza;
KJV	And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.

KG	Továbbá a Léviták közül: Józabád, Simei és Kélája. (az a Kelita), Pethahja, Júda és Eliézer;
KJV	Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

KG	Az énekesek közül pedig: Eliásib, s a kapunállók közül: Sallum, Telem és Uri;
KJV	Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.

KG	Továbbá Izráel népéből: Parós fiai közül: Ramia, Jezija, Malkija, Mijámin, Eleázár, Malkija és Benája;
KJV	Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.

KG	Elám fiai közül: Mattánia, Zakariás, Jéhiel, Abdi, Jerémóth és Élija;
KJV	And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah.

KG	Zattu fiai közül: Eljóénai, Eljásib, Mattánia, Jerémóth, Zabád és Aziza;
KJV	And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.

KG	Bébai fiai közül: Jóhanán, Hanánia, Zabbai és Athlai;
KJV	Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.

KG	Báni fiai közül: Mesullám, Mallukh, Adája, Jásub, Seál és Rámóth;
KJV	And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.

KG	Pahath-Moáb fiai közül: Adna, Kelál, Benája, Maaszéja, Mattánia, Besaléel, Binnui és Manasse;
KJV	And of the sons of Pahathmoab; Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.

KG	A Hárim fiai pedig: Eliézer, Jissija, Malkija, Semája, Simeon;
KJV	And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,

KG	Benjámin, Mallukh, Semarja;
KJV	Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.

KG	Hásum fiai közül: Mattenai, Mattattá, Zabád, Elifélet, Jerémai, Manasse, Simei,
KJV	Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.

KJV	Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,

KG	Benája, Bédéja, Keluhu;
KJV	Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,

KG	Selemia, Náthán és Adája;
KJV	And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,

KG	Makhnadbai, Sásai, Sárai;
KJV	Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,

KG	Azareél, Selemia és Semária;
KJV	Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,

KG	Sallum, Amaria, József:
KJV	Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.

KG	A Nebó fiai közül: Jéiel, Mattithja, Zabád, Zebina, Jaddai, Jóel, Benája.
KJV	Of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, and Joel, Benaiah.

KG	Mindezek idegen feleségeket vettek vala magoknak. És valának e feleségek között olyanok is, akik már fiakat szültek.
KJV	All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.
